Artisan Bread Bakers
Job Description
We are looking for an individual to join our overnight bread baking team. This is an entry level position where passion and willingness to learn is an asset. Applicants must be able to work overnight, on holidays + weekends. You will be working with a dynamic group of individuals that have a wealth of baking knowledge (15+ years) to share.
Wage will be based on experience + skill level.
What the Job entails:
- Preparing raw goods for fillings
- Shaping, rolling + scaling dough
- Proofing breads + pastries
- Lamination, cutting + shaping of croissants
- Scaling + measuring ingredients
- Use of equipment such as proofers, sheeter, ovens, mixers, convection ovens, robot coupe, balance, mechanical + digital scales
- Shifts are scheduled starting at 9-10pm + are 6-8 hours (depending on the season)
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Passion for baking
- A positive attitude
- Being part of a skilled team, follow direction + not afraid to ask for help
- Are reliable + respectful
- Basic culinary skills such as proper knife handling + safe food handling are required
- Minimum of 3 years progressive culinary/ kitchen experience
- Applicants must be able to read + follow recipes
- Understanding of weights + measures
- Have a basic understanding of baking from scratch, proofing + chemistry of baking bread
- Have a basic understanding of the processes of scaling, shaping + scoring loaves
- Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Able to withstand repetitive movements + standing for the duration of a shift
- Ability to bending + lifting over your head
- Organized, work quickly + keep a tidy work space
- Experience working with yeasted + sourdough based breads are asset
Salary: Starting at $15.00 per hour
Wage based on skill level + experience

- A culinary training degree with a focus on pastry is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years progressive baking experience in a fast paced kitchen operation

- Experience with ordering product, inventory & purchases
- Experience with scheduling, holiday and large production planning
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Able to spend 100% of the shift standing
- Demonstrates an understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of food handling, safety and sanitation standards
Be well versed and up to date with WHMIS, Work Place Health & Safety & Public Health food handling certificates

Café
We are looking for summer staff. We will be hiring part-time and full-time experienced restaurant employees and training and preparing for the summer patio season.
Applicants must have restaurant experience; must be able to work early mornings, occasional dinners, and all holidays. Applicants must be able to work the door as a host, cheerfully work bussing shifts, bartend, as well as be able to serve tables. Prior experience as a barista is a plus.
Applicants must be able to work as a team in a fast paced environment, understanding that side duties are shared between all positions. The successful candidate will be flexible, understanding that during this time we need employees to be willing to host, bus, bartend and serve. At any time we may need employees to step into any one of these roles. We expect a great attitude when asked to help with cleaning duties, sanitizing, enforcing public health regulations, and anything else the café or business is requiring at this time.
Prior supervisor or managing experience would be a bonus, with potential opportunities within the business if we found the right candidate.
